Rui's passion and main interest is the ocean so most of his time is spent as one of our main skippers. Rui also frequently works on land as a guide and vigia and still finds time to organise the day to day life in the office. Rui is a complete book of knowledge and is proud to show our guests everything that the Azores has to offer.

MÁRIO MEDEIROS
Background: Mário was born right here in Ponta Delgada and started working for Futurismo in 2000. He is the skipper of "Song of Whales", our medium-sized boat which is mainly used during our full-day tours during the height of summer. His interests besides whale watching are diving and sailing.

VIGIAS (LOOKOUTS)

ROBERTO SOARES
Background: Roberto is Futurismo's main vigia which means he is the one finding most of the whales and dolphins that we get to see during our whale watching and swimming with dolphins tours. Roberto has been working with us since 2008 and he has become fundamental to us. With his many years of experience and trained eyes Roberto is able to spot a whale up to 45 km from the coastline and he can usually determine the whale species by the shape of its blow or the dolphin species just from the swimming behaviour. Not much can escape Roberto's eyes and he has developed a very accurate sense of predicting where a whale will surface next. We feel confident in saying that Roberto is the best vigia around!

GUIDES

TRIIN MEDEIROS

She has been working with us for several years so she also has experience working in the office and reservations as well as guiding our jeep safaris and walking tours. Triin has a great knowledge about the Azores and she is always looking for new and interesting information to incorporate into her explanations.

Uhmmm...nice team but should be completed with an old man, italian speaker, with sea navigation experience (Navy), scientific community experience ...with some capabilities, expert certified at level 3 on Infrared Thermography and Maintenace...

At the moment I'm involved in a new experience in the world Art (drawings, portraits, etc.), and for the future I would to try to live temporarly in the Açores (where I've been in the far...ehm...1987), before to decide for a long term residence....

Stay happy
